my essay!

Romeo and Juliet Project
The Romeo and Juliet project helped students understand the story better than just reading the material. It helped by expanding the students’ knowledge of technology. The project also helped with collaboration work. It also taught the students more about organization. This project will be the most memorable thing the students remember about freshman year. All the work put into this project be useful to the students in the future. This will be good for job applications, résumés, or collage applications.  The Romeo and Juliet project may not be a written paper, yet it is better than just writing about the material.
The Romeo and Juliet project helped expand the students’ knowledge of technology. The adults who have read this story back in the day only had to write a paper. The freshman students used different web pages to help get the word out about the project. The students used helpful websites such as blogger, kid blog, twitter, wiki spaces, and facebook. Also, they used things such as skype to video chat with the other school in Iowa. The ninth graders also had to use video cameras to film the movie. These will be useful skills to have in the near future. If the students just wrote a paper they would not have the opportunity to learn more about the new technology in the world. Not only did the project teach students how to use different kinds of technology, it also forced students to collaborate.
The project helped students work with collaboration by having to talk to Iowa students. That was when technology became very useful. The students used skype to chat with Iowa students to make plans about the film. For example, the students talked about what outfits the actors/actresses should wear in what scenes of the movie. This helped identify the characters throughout the film. This social work will also help students in their future. This is a useful skill for the ninth graders to have because when they are older and want to go into business, they will need to know how to communicate with other workers in different areas. Writing a paper cannot teach students about social skills. These meetings with Iowa helped the students learn how to communicate better. Also, taught the students more about organization.
The skype chats with Iowa helped the students organize how to film what scenes, what to wear, what props to use, and where each scene was going to be. Since this project was all student-run, the teenagers really had to use organization. The blogs helped schedule when to film, where to film, and what time to film. The blogs helped stay in touch with everyone who was supposed to be in each scene. The blogs were really the key to staying organized during the project. Every time the students’ skyped with Iowa, there was always someone taking notes or putting everything that was being said onto a blog. This skill is also a very useful one to have. Writing a paper will not make a student more organized. Organization was a key part of putting the project together. Though this project has been tough for the students, it will be the most memorable.
The Romeo and Juliet project will be very memorable to each student who was in it. This project will be the most memorable time the students will remember about freshman year. The hard work and effort that was put in this project was tremendous. There was also fun during the construction of the film.  Friendships have been formed which helped students socially. Some moments during filming the movie have been very humorous, yet sometimes it took a dozen takes to make one scene in the act. When students look back at their time during freshman year they will play back the memories about this project in their minds. Writing a paper will not be as memorable as putting on an entire production.
The Romeo and Juliet project may not be a written paper, yet it is better than just writing about the material. This is because the project taught the students many useful skills in life. A paper cannot do that. The students learned a lot about technology by using blogger, twitter, facebook, kid blog, and wiki spaces. The ninth graders also learned more about collaboration by talking to the Iowa students over skype and communicating well with keeping up with the blogs. The freshman also learned more about organization by keeping in touch with one another, writing down important things, and schedule. All this hard work and dedication will make this the most memorable time of freshman year. The students have learned so many skills that they can apply to their life in the future. A paper can’t do that.

March 16th 2011 - The facebook page

The facebook page that I made for Juliet will help promote awareness of the project. My brother (Jonathan) helped me make it hes really good at that kind of stuff. It was really alot of fun making the page for Juliet because its funny what a person from that time peroid would put as a facebook today.

Ill be posting status updates about whats going on in her life and hopefully other social media people will make facebook profiles for other characters in the movie so they could interact with eachother on facebook.
